The Candle I Light

One day

          Nothing is possible, the next

Everything

Then the aforementioned is

          Torn apart, uninvited, the thought

“This is an incomprehensible condition”
          Don’t bother with it

People shouldn’t touch other people anyway

          It’s not polite

Just raise your children after their husbands

Love yourselves and look everywhere else

          But the suffering

Eat ethnic foods, then

In the presence of dawn

          Stand by the window

Where light and bird skim across water

Slight sky, almost pink

This is the purpose of happiness

          Ignoring the pain

You will die one day anyway

 Sooner than you thought

Saying                 We Let this Be.
