Refugees

 

 

This is the age of the refugees,

from Afghanistan to El Salvador to Darfur

lost souls, striving to make sense

of their experience

and not always succeeding.

                                             

So far from their dreams

how unspeakably difficult

it must be for them

to replant in foreign soil

like cactus in the forest with memories

like powder kegs to haunt them.
