The World Looks Elsewhere
I see the thunder of our pain
in the mirage of our dreams.
Anguish is kindled into ashes
where the silent owls keep watch
over a people abandoned to despair.
We are pillaged by hunger, disease,
and the carnage of ethnic war.
Our children are left to care for
each other, to fend for themselves.
They’re sold in traffic and lured
by the mercenaries of war!
It’s always autumn here.
People falling by the wayside
being blown away by death
like autumn leaves decomposing
0n the earth.
We have no ruby mines, diamond mines
we have no oil fields.
The world looks elsewhere as we
fall by the wayside as autumn leaves
slowly decomposing on the earth.
The world looks elsewhere
we have nothing they can take
from us!
