Transcreation of an Urdu poem by Ali Sardar Jafri

That greenery as soft as sleep

The dew as terrified as a private dream

The faces as blooming  as flowers

The chats as elegant as faint whiffs

The smiles as youthful as sunrays

That desire, leaping like the blazes

The embrace sparkling like the stars

Those breasts over-flowing like wine-glasses

All those like a caravan destined for the abyss

Are all trudging along in the valley of the abyss

Darkness unfurls its banners

As moments burn like wayward lamps

Each moment is nubile and comely

Each moment is the light of body and soul

Each moment is exalted and eternal.
