The moving worm from the

          Hard casing lifts. It flies

In time     It flies    Meantime

My heart reports what

            The mind sounds

Encountering prayer as the only excuse.

 

House of anger, I leave you now

I close the door

Accepting a path with strange signals

A spirit away from terror

Love not hooked. The self as source.

Grace Cavalieri has authored 14 books and chapbooks of poetry, and 20 produced  plays.  In 2005 she won both a Paterson Prize and the Bordighera Award for poetry. Her series "The Poet and the Poem” is in its 29^th  year, now from the Library of Congress via NPR satellite.
